"An able, disinterested, public-spirited press, with trained
intelligence to know the right and courage to do it, can preserve
that public virtue without which popular government is a sham and
a mockery. A cynical, mercenary, demagogic press will produce in
time a people as base as itself."
by:
Joseph Pulitzer
(1847-1911) Hungarian-born American newspaper publisher after whom the Pulitzer Prize was named.

True, although could be put better. There is failure when the press is just a fictitious mini series produced and written by the state; this is not a free press, just another government institution with a superficial appearance of being a private enterprize.

The press nowadays is anything but disinterested...it is owned by and works for Globalist interests. Which is why it can not be trusted on any level.

An independent domain of existence without outside influence (able, disinterested and intelligent) in publishing truth, as qualified by, and measured to the laws of nature and of nature’s God would be made more clear when such elements as pure intent, results and actual facts were included. Focus on public-spirited and public virtue are misdirection abstracts that blind the mind, heart and sole to individual sovereign inalienable rights and liberty. Today’s cynical, mercenary, demagocic, theological propagating press is producing societies of individuals as base as itself.
