"To most of us nothing is so invisible as an unpleasant truth.
Though it is held before our eyes, pushed under our noses,
rammed down our throats -- we know it not."

Sadly, people just don't want to know...what they don't want to know.

Another great perspective on yesterday's slave quote. I almost have to smile. The Wafflers of the world believe that gang rape is acceptable when done by the majority, compelled compliance is ok because government came up with a reason for it, larceny with impunity is a good thing as long as its done by the mob, license is great because the more permissions and privileges granted the slave - the freer they think they are, when the theocratic collective promotes its victimless crimes -all is well, and when any one speaks such heresy as would shed a little light on the slave state it is damnable.

A truly great quote because it is so true of human nature. Mike when are you going to step out of the box of "compelled compliance, victimless crimes" etcetera that you have locked yourself into. First of all one you can not think out side of the box if you don't even know what is in the box. Most knowledge in the world and policies are additive, that is human civilization (such as it is) grows from trial and experience from one generartion to the next, thus we must know what was done before and how it was done in order to proceed to new ways and policies. I suggest that all that history, policy, and legislative history is what is in the BOX. If you don't study what is in the box you may just repeat it unnecessarily. And you do repeat yourself and I guess just to get the applause of Logan.

"The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." -- Thomas Jefferson, (1743-1826), US Founding Father, drafted the Declaration of Independence, 3rd US President

Waffler, thanks for proving my point once again; from one generation to the next, the progressive box has revisited history and the slave at heart, as well as those who love wealth (or at lest the perception thereof) better than liberty and servitude better than the animating contest of freedom once again turn a blind eye to despots and tyranny.

Such is TODAY - we are not blind just ignorant. We each have our boxes and most are still in them - Excellent retort Mike.

Waffler, you cannot get rid of slavery by simply convincing the slaves that they are free to think and speak. It takes few words to tell the truth, and the amount of propaganda necessary to back up your point takes decades of daily programming. Turn off the TV and you are more likely to NOT get fed a bunch of crap. Seek the truth, and remember that most of what you will find are the lies you tell yourself (if you can handle it). Mike is right on today.
