Rex Curry Quote

"A person's right to a job is as specious as his boss' right to success in business. There is no right to a minimum wage, just as there is no right to success in self-employment."

WOW, YES ! ! ! Government implemented Keynesian economics (government being the omnipotent partner - boss) proves well the statement, especially in the face of the God of nature's fiscal law.  -- Mike, Norwalk      1
I suspect Rex, that you have never worked for minimum wage. In fact, I'd be surprised if you have worked up a sweat while employed. You are correct in simple terms, there is no "right" to min. wage or success in business. However, there are laws gov. min. wage and with good reason. Employers have proven over all of recorded history to pay as little as possilbe or even not pay at all--as in slavery. When it comes to business, of course there are no "rights" to success. Just as there are no guarantees of happiness in life or even in life it self. So Rex, try on the simple life--say working at a fast food restaurant. Or, perhaps start a delivery route--self employment. Let us know how that works for you.  -- Carter, Madison,WI      1
Minimum wage also works as a "maximum wage." It's a ceiling as much as a floor. The only success we will ever enjoy will be acheived through perseverence and skill...not by government decree.  -- J Carlton, Calgary      2 1
True, there is no 'Right' to a job. What there is instead is a necessity for society to provide means of gainful employment for all able citizens. This is necessary because the unemployed will eventually out of necessity if not inclination turn to crime to provide for their basic needs and the luxuries they see others possessing. In addition, unemployment = unutilized capacity for economic growth, so unemployment eventually harms the unemployed, the employed, and the capitalists as well.  -- TheMANwithNoName, Tampa      1 1
Carter, I started working at a fast food restaurant and then started a delivery route - great and fond memories. In life's adventures, I lost everything, didn't even have a car to shelter my family. Again, the fast food restaurant job supplied sustenance to the family and allowed me time to re-start. TheMANwithNoName, WHAT ? ? ? Who is this society that I might subpoena him/her/it to court to find the lawful nexus that mandates an innocent disinterested third party's actions. Is the, necessary providing of gainful employment, a criminal justice mandate; or what ? ? ? I was on the street with my family. I took nothing from this society you mention, I stole nothing, I requested nothing from the occupying statist theocracy infesting this land, nor did anyone in my family - we simply moved on. Turning to a crime-ridden lifestyle as you suggest is a myth propagated by socialist religions. Those that have an inkling for crime either go to work for the government (police, judge, or legislator for example), the IRS or participate in unlawful activity without the unemployment anyway. Those brought to criminal activities to provide luxuries they see others possess have a much greater problem and deep seeded dilemma than basic needs.  -- Mike, Norwalk      3 1
Superb quote. That is from the historian Dr. Rex Curry whose work showed that the USA's Pledge of Allegiance was the origin of the Nazi salute and Nazi behavior. He also showed that the swastika, although an ancient symbol, was also used to represent crossed S-letters for "socialism" under the National Socialist German Workers Party.  -- Daniel Pose, Key West      1
Minimum wage ?? Beware of unintended results.  -- jim k, Austin, Tx      2 1
Really interesting how those commenting against the quote seem to completely misunderstand the point Rex made, or the points others have mentioned, or even the nature and exact proposal of minimum wage laws. They respond as if the subject were other, as if the question was about themselves, or other specific individuals, or other particular needs.  -- Felipe, São Paulo      1 1

What a stupid self righteous sentiment.  -- Robert Edwards, somewhere in the USA      1
