We're all Libertarians until we are 5. It takes twelve years of education to beat it out of us.

Public schooling in this country equals government indoctrination. The kids may not learn anything , but they will be goot little socialists.

Lenin was right in observing that children are very imprssionable and thus we should be careful to whom we entrust them. Jesus said "suffer the little children to come unto me". So He is a great start. Beyond that it is generally observed that children need people in their lives beyond Mommy and Daddy. If we keep them real close to ourselves they may never learn anything and rather than have a life of freedom and choices they may grow up to be just like us (God have mercy) and be coal miners, carpenters etcetera when they could have been something else.

The Christians have similar sayings. Waffler obviously suffers from acute self-loathing -- "our children may grow up to be just like us (God have mercy)". That explains it all. Boy, did they do a number on him.

Archer I was thinking of you when I said God have mercy. We have had enough Pol Pots in the world, uneducated anarchists whose jealousy of education causes them to strike out and destroy every thing it has built.

Its hard, impossible for the Wafflers of the world, to imagine how great, clean, healthy and prosperous this nation would be if the schools taught that each individual was sovereign with inalienable rights as a faculty of birth, government was the servent of the people with no rights - but duties only, that the individual could do anything he/she chose as it did not infringe on anyone elses nose, that compelled compliance (especially initiated by government) was slavery, that victimless crimes were despotic, that larceny with impunity (especially by the government) was a heinous crime, that governmental license was anti-liberty tyranny, that torture for information was an unconscionable horror, that evolution and intelligent design are both only understood by conclusion, faith/belief, and not by fact, that law can not be created by man but rather only discovered, and etc.

This indeed another version of a biblical text proverbs 22 :6. This is not lenin's invention. The communists have stolen every idea from the bible for their organisation and governace and then denounce the scripture. Who taught them not to kill or steal.Wwho taught them that the servent should submit to his master and so on.Any seed that sows in the children irrespctive of the subject matter; whether good or bad no one can uproot from them It is neither a communist invention nor a materialist's and not new either..I feel pity for him.

Our children are being indoctrinated every day into socialism. We need to start deprogramming them! Here is a start --it's a video called "The Philosophy of Liberty" that is so elegant and powerful, you will understand the real way we are meant to live... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z1buym2xUM

Thanks, Ann! I've just bookmarked "The Philosophy of Liberty". Freedom requires discipline, hard work, and constant vigilance. Slavery is the easy way out, but it isn't living.

I find most of the above comments highly pointed to the so-called progress being touted as freedom. The 'freedom' to care only for oneself,to disparage others who do not do as 'well' in life as those who put self first! Community is not communism. It is a way of life that cares for all, regardless of their 'status in life. Rich, self-centered persons are not usually very happy people. What does the Bible say about loving our neighbors? Money is not the answer.

Archer calls humility "self loathing". I guess he is like Lenin or was it Stalin whose ego was big enough that he just wanted to make kids to be just like himself. The true parent and educator wishes for "kids" to open up, explore and go beyond where no one has gone before.

OK! enough is enough, let's just put the facts on the table: If schools were only answerable to their community but include a basic curriculum that is shared and approved by a counsel of professional educators who were totally independent of any government or federal authority and were elected only by their peers. Take out any religious content and other fundamental belief systems - it would be paramount to have an educational system that reflected the holistic approach which included ethics and other liberal arts. Teachers would be responsible for grading their own pupils. Teachers are educated most parent's are not...

Waffler suffers from cognitive dissonance, always confusing opposites. 'Freedom is Slavery,' eh, Waffler? Georgia makes the leap that those that freely chose their own paths have no hearts. Frankly I am puzzled as to why coercion and obedience are somehow equated with compassion. Those that value freedom know that it starts with honor and personal responsibility, not victim-hood and dependence. The difference between community and communism is simple: choice. Those that have been programmed are quick to impose their programming on others -- they cannot imagine life differently. It is a responsibility to take care of oneself and one's family, it is a blessing to be loved -- love cannot be legislated -- slaves do not really love their masters, they just put on the act that best keeps them from being punished, all the while covertly hating their oppressors. Has anyone forgotten how many MILLIONS of people were killed on account of Lenin? They weren't the rich, either -- they were the disobedient. There's your 'community' for you. I'll chose my own friends, thank you.

Is it any wonder that all these loser socialists/communists come from Russia? Europe? Considering it's biblical that after Esau murdered Jacob, Esau inherited that country as his inheritance? Needless to say, it was always and always will be a very poor country. It's no accident that you cannot grow anything worth eating there in their soil. God made it that way and Esau lived there with other satan worshippers and God haters, thus destitute people with no way out. These haters on the left with socialistic tendencies are only doing their 'masters' work. Of course their master isn't Godly as we can all see clearly.

Cyndi, Esau did reject his birthrite and ultimately did reject God, but he did not murder Jacob. I do agree with you that Esau's descendents in general sought a master other than God and as a result, their nation(s) does not receive blessings from God.

Cyndi, Esau traded his birthright for a bowl of his favorite food is much more to the story but I do not believe that Esau actually murdered Jacob because Jacob had children, maybe a good idea to reread.
A lot of good discussion here today.

Definitely not Lenin's original work, Francis Xavier said basically the same thing and even he's not original.

The same foul stench of the subjugation of innocence repeated for millennia. Are people basically good? I have doubts.

Original sin, grace reconciliation, predestination. The ground around the tree of liberty is flat. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to God's mercy and purpose in grace to raise up a foolish nation to provoke Israel to jealousy. to emulate .
     -- Ron w13, Or

Original sin , it is not your fault, that God may have mercy upon all. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. There is none good no not one. That is objective fact. But not to say there are not just and unjust people. There is still a difference. For some hate their neighbor. The ground is flat. God is not a respecter of persons, neither is it good to be in judgment. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who subjected the same in hope. Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit. There is a saying the time will come, it is upon us. Concerning Esau, Jeremiah 49:10 But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is spoiled and his brethren, and his neighbors, and he is not.
     -- Ron w13, Or

I imagine a similar conversation took place in the garden of Eden between Satan and Eve, "why be constrained do as you wish!" You don't need to obey God he only wants to limit your experience of so many wonderful things. Waffler is the blind leading the blind.

You can't control what a teacher puts into the minds of our children. Lenin wanted to put ideology into their minds that was built on an anti-capitalist lie (propaganda). The clear message here is to insist that our teachers not mix their teaching with their own ideologies, in particular Marxist ideologies. This should not be something teachers should be "careful" about. It should be something parents prohibit. Ideology is, at base, a matter of opinion. Truth is about how to think, how to write, how to calculate and how understand the past. When we allow teachers to impart their personal ideologies into our childrens' minds, a society of free thinkers is no possible. Children should not be Marxist shmoos or community organizers. They should be taught how to be individuals.
