more hideous than crime -- namely, repressive justice."

Reader comments about this quote:
By example, not by limitation, justice is a moral rationale determining an equitable status and conduct and, the process of adjusting, addressing or correcting a violative act against property or person. That which represses the innocent, the not guilty, or a non violative act is not justice, but rather an injustice. Compelled compliance, license, victimless crimes, theft of the noble laborer's fruits, forced charity-ID-insurance, etc. are all repressive injustices. The word salad that is the quote is part of a language mis-direction that is more destructive than helpful.

Its almost as if The GWB administration is following very closely the Nazi playbook...let alone the business as usual kleptocracy.

The whole point is using justice for an injustice not that justice itself is unjust

Mike, great comments -- not sure why the thumbs down. The check upon repressive justice is the Jury; it is the last line of defense against bad laws and corrupt government whereby a guilty verdict can only be imposed by the UNANIMOUS decision of a jury of one's peers. The jury judges not only the facts but the law as well. If juries refuse to condemn their countrymen/women of breaking repressive laws, then true justice is done -- and it only takes ONE person on a jury to protect the life and liberty of all Americans -- let that person be YOU. ;-)

I agree with all the comments here, including the inteded meaning of the quote. I contemplated giving it 5 stars. The reason for the thumbs is I believe the majority of current society believes that government is just in its day to day repressions and that such statements only further the chaos and ignorance. It may needs have a 5 star if it would make people think.

Alfred the Great, king of Wessex, when he was asked what is justice replied that he knew it when he saw it. That is the jury's role in judging the law. I read somewhere about a farmer who was on trial for stealing sheep from another farmer who was a known cheat. The jury came back with a verdict of not guilty but he has to give back the sheep. The judge refused to accept the verdict and sent the jury to deliberate some more. The came back with the verdict not guilty and he can keep the sheep. Justice is sometimes more than the letter of the law.

Crime in the streets is necessary to conceal the crimes in courtrooms.

Can't figure out how to have repressive justice. Sounds like an oxymoron to me.

That statement is completely true. With create-a-crime cops and little to no real legal representation for the poor, Justice has become a really bad joke. If one is denied a fair trial then how can there be justice? When jury's are fixed and lawyers don't care about their clients then how can there be justice? When courts are held behind closed doors and when lies become more important than truth then there is no justice. When so much power is given to state agencies in courts and the people have no voice in them then how can there be justice? The common man gets no justice against government, court or police corruption. The wolf is now watching over the hen house and justice is no longer there. It is a hideous crime. It has enslaved the people of this country and has made a mockery out of all our legal system.

Two things. GWB's administration has been gone for several YEARS! Not sure why J Carlton, Calgary brings this up.

With the current BHO administration AND his cohorts, the rich get richer and receive more favor than ever. Maybe occasionally a poor sap will be pointed out to help, but only to better 'their' image.
