"The conclusion is thus inescapable that the history, concept, and wording of the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, as well as its interpretation by every major commentator and court in the first half-century after its ratification, indicates that what is protected is an individual right of a private citizen to own and carry firearms in a peaceful manner."

The current despotic theocracy certainly won't let law, order, justice, prosperity, history, facts, truth, or the Constitution get in its way of trying to alter or eliminate all cognition of the quote's subject matter.

...until the next left-wing lunatic decides it doesn't say anything at all about individuals owning guns,,,,then we'll have to do this all over again....

We have to defeat Obama, Pelosi, Reed, and the rest of the usual suspects, or we are in for some real hard times. If Obama gets this health care non-sense passed, you better stay healthy. I haven't heard of any Americans going to Canada or England for health(sick) care.

    Citizens owning guns prevents dictators!

No one has commented on the last four words of the quote, "in a peaceful manner". Seems it limits the use of guns and deprives a person from protecting his country from enemies, foreign or domestic in event of actual military actions. Guess that means you keep your gun in your holster just for looks. Is it necessary to use this forum for unrelated personal political outbursts. Negative references to "liberal", "Obama, Pelosi, Reed," and whomever "rest of usual suspects" appears to attempt to limit readers to your own political persuasion. It has nothing to do with discussion of the quotes. Not everyone wants to read your "radical conservative views". Hopefully the moderator can address this better than I.

Good observation Juggs and comments. The peaceful manner referred to here would mean that our guns are in no way guaranteed to us for the purpose of taking on or even defending ourselves from government. The government(s) local, state, and federal are in fact the peace officers. Some and NRA seem to preach the use of guns against government or peace offficers. That is wrong headed thinking to the Nth degree. It seems impossible to stop there stupidity.
     -- Waffler, Smith
Face it, a fired gun isn't peaceful. 'In a peaceful manner' means 'for defense' or shall we say 'not offensively.' It certainly implies that we have the right to fire them and face the responsibility that comes with that decision. Make guns illegal, and only criminals will have guns - duh.
