"I have often lamented that with the collapse of the Soviet bloc, the forces of liberalism did not spend nearly enough time ruthlessly driving intellectual stakes through the hearts of all those who supported the 'Evil Empire' or preached appeasement or claimed that the Soviet system was 'just another way of living' rather than a mass murderous tyranny."

I'm not quite sure where this is supposed to go ? Modern liberalism is the Evil Empire in support of mass murderous tyranny. Modern liberalism is that which ruthlessly attempts to drive intellectual stakes through the hearts of all those that would choose freedom, liberty, individual sovereignty, inalienable rights and prosperity. Modern liberalism is 'just another way of living' that preaches appeasement with all that which was the Soviet system.

Just more conservative double-think. The assumption by the writer is that modern liberals could not drive those intelectual stakes, as they would be impailing themselves. This is, of course, laughable.

Hanson, FYI, de Havilland and Samizdata rip on your referenced 'conservative' as much as modern liberals. You may have touched on where the satire was going ?

Communists consider Liberals, (fellow travelers), useful idiots and will probably dispose of them first.

Today's liberals have no inclination towards classic "live and let live" Liberalism. They have in fact devolved into a zealous group of busy body, control freaks who have no idea where they are trying to go...Today's Conservative parties are no better.
