"Free speech is essential to education, especially to a liberal
education, which encourages the search for truths in art and science.
If expression is restricted, the range of inquiry is also curtailed...
The beneficiaries of a free society have a duty to pursue the truth
and to protect the freedom of expression that makes possible
the search for a new enlightenment."

I've given this 5 stars because I'm using the founder's definition of liberal, not Mr. Dorsen's. Mr. Donrsen's definition of liberal eliminates freedom of expression and makes impossible the search for a new enlightenment.

A liberal education is a double-edged sword. As usual, each individual will be required to maintain their individuality in the face of collective conditioning.

Quote is very good. The problem he has is he believes that truth is arbitrary. So why would he believe that you would have to search for it? May be that he is just trying to fool us into thinking he is a visionary just looking out for our best interest with no agenda of his own. Quote is an example of how good things can sound coming from the silvery tongue of a snake.

There is no new enlightenment, there is only the original named Jesus Christ and you can follow up His logic from the enlightenment philosophers starting with Decartes.
