"And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that sold doves, and said unto them, 'It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.'"

This anti-business quote is responsible for lots of the worlds problems because it is severly anti-human life.

I would say money and greed are far more to blame for the worlds problems than prayer....

Wolfbite, lol. This is not the time or place to go into historical detail so excuse me for a super brief interjection. Jesus, was known to be, by birthright (see Matthew 1:1-16) the rightful king of Israel. His first politically perceived acts were to come into the city atop the ass with people laying palm leaves in front of Him. Then He went to the temple where it was illegal to perform commercial activities. Most commercial activities consisted of changing nation's currencies into temple script so that animals could be bought for sacrifice. Said animals were mostly obtained scurrilously through less than normal business practices, for less than market value, and were about the only animals allowed to be sacrificed. A somewhat worse scenario than selling Senate seats in the US from a govenor's office. When Jesus turned over the tables, etc. it was done to exacting temple, Jerusalem, and Israel (local and national) well established codes, rules, and statutes - according to law and justice. The temple guard (a paramilitary force, second only to Rome in the area) did nothing to prevent Jesus' acts because they new the law, the related punishment, and the rightful authority by which Jesus performed said acts. His status, religiously and politically, was becoming a popular movement, not missed by the 71 member Sanhedrin.

Today some want to make public places like schools Houses Of Prayer and thus to coerce others into forced prayer. God forbid such a thing that he must surely detest.

The body is the temple and is therefore the house of prayer. The believer is also told to pray without ceasing. That is as much a part of their religion as any other commandment. If an individual, student, teacher, anyone, is prevented from exercising their religion because they are in a public building, is the government violating their first amendment right? Government cannot organize a prayer. By the same first amendment argument, they also cannot prevent one.

The money changers are the corrupting influence of civilization. Every institution ever established for the 'good of mankind' has been the target of the money changers. Counterfeiting and usury are the greatest dangers of society, and it wasn't until Jesus challenged those thieves that he got into trouble. You can preach all you want about love and peace, but challenge the money changers and the iron fist will fall.

A Good reminder of what the church is really for. And if any one knows what's being violated in schools today it's a child's right of freedom of speech to pray. Christians need to start standing up for their own rights as Americans.

Jesus. Gandhi. Brave men who did not fear death, who knew that, by giving the 'finger' to the money-changers, they were putting themselves at the top of the 'hit-list'.

There are three wise men that post here. In these times of turmoil, times when men's minds fail them, and darkness surrounds us, some men are truly great. Their minds and spirits are strong. Mike and archer, should be at the top of our educational system, instead, like most all now, are kept down, by a system that seeks to silence the voice of sanity and freedom. After years, of reading a mans thoughts, one can see their hearts. good men. better than I. Sometimes, it is best to know when one should follow, and who to follow. I would follow these men into the fire and battle. Jesus taught many things, the Greatest of them love. we are to the point where turning the cheek has not worked. One thing for sure, God be with us, in these times.

" But ye turned and polluted my name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his hand maid, whom ye had set at ( Chophshiy ) Liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them under subjection, to be unto you for servants and handmaids. Therefore thus saith the Lord; Ye have not hearkened unto me, in Proclaiming (Chophshiy) Liberty, every one to his brother, and every man to his neighbor: behold, I proclaim a liberty for you, saith the Lord,to the sword, to the pestilence, and to the famine; and I will make you to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth. And I will give the men that have transgressed my Covenant, which have not performed the words of the covenant which they have made before me, when they cut calf in twain, and past between the parts thereof, The princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the eunuchs, and the priests, and All the people of the land which past between the parts of the calf, I will even give them into the hands of their enemies." Jeremiah 34:16-20. As we also know, Christ armed his apostles prior to his death. Liberty is a very precious gift and covenant with God, Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law for transgressions. And has set us at Liberty on high dry ground, through his resurrection, seated at the right hand of the Father for ever more. Semper FI

Thieves! how many of the bankers - creators of unfair interest rates, irreducible debt and associated misery who's grasping and shortness of sight were solely responsible for the 2007 financial crises - are having to pay in any way for their actions? None that I know of. They have committed no crimes but their actions are totally immoral leaving many shackled to debt and misery - true slaves. I don't believe that Jesus was the son of God but I believe that he was a man of the people and of social justice.
