Okay, change is an integral aspect of both progression and digression (that concept gets 5 stars). Considering the change of mind here considered by the subject author, change would be more closely aligned with digression. A static, liberal (original meaning, not progressive as today's nomenclature would indicate) or otherwise noble mind (and heart) would not follow the alluded to change.

Fabian socialist change in England. no doubt even then the Middle East was in bed with NYC, Boston and headed for the WH. Lincoln embraced the industrialized north and its need for "Legalized Plunder " of We the People, for the maintaining of wage slavery to be endured by all. regress not progress !

'Progress' as defined by 'progressives' is any change towards social control. How about 'Integrity' ? Now that would be progress!!
