For over 15 years I have been passing on this quote. Yet I have never, admittedly, known who the quote was taken from. I was initially told it was Keith Richards, guitarist for "The Rolling Stones", who offered this declaration.. I questioned my source. Then it was Mark Twain, lover & keeper of Nature. NOPE! Daniel Webster made an acute & unfortunately true statement. But if we question the powers that be...which are human just as us, then this country could be loved ten-fold. People FOR People!!! Thank you for this wonderful service as well as the free membership to go along!

For a Representative Republic, I think I like better Jefferson's: "When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny" When tyranny rules, such as exampled by the current occupying statist theocracy infesting this land, Webster's quote is very apropos.

After the Oklahoma bombing Clinton said, "You can't say you love your country and hate your government." We have come a long way, baby...

If you're not the forward force of the country, in essence the true government, do you really have case for love of your country, or anything else for that matter?
