"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful."

Then again, Johnny Cash's comments, "I felt so sick I was afraid I was going to live." More seriously, what does the Buddha say to the abused, dying child who feels unloved? I know, he says, "I will always love you."

This is a great quote, but I do not believe it can be attributed to the Buddha.  I think it's from Leo Buscaglia who was quoting/paraphrasing a Thai Buddhist teacher perhaps in Born for Love: Reflections on Loving.
