as when they do it from religious conviction."

From the era of inquisitions...yet it seems to suit today's "jihad" nicely.

So much of the Devil's evil is done in the name of God, Allah, or whomever. One must beware.

The primary rallying cry of the conservatives these days is for 'The Long War' against Islamofascism. Meanwhile plain old fascism runs free in the USA. Christians who support the killing of millions of people in Muslim countries are as guilty of murder as those who have been sent to do so. And because of their religious beliefs, they are prepared to war for decades (20 years and counting). For what? Liberty? What about taking care of your own backyard? The US has adopted nearly every plank of Communism and every domestic policy of the Nazi's before they began mass genocide of their own citizens. All with the support of the religious leaders at the time. Sorry, guys, if this is your version of righteousness, go to hell.

Archer, what's even more ironic is that we are being inundated with all of this false (police state) security because of Muslim Terrorists and yet even the schools are starting to teach Sharia law...and everyone is subject to scrutiny...unless of course, they happen to be Muslims, in which case we must be "sensitive" to their cultural differences. It's insane doublespeak right out of an Orwellian novel.

Absolutely ! Archer and Carlton, YES. Religion is the opium of the masses (Karl Marx) Religion is real piety in practice, consisting in the performance of all known duties to God and our fellow men. (Bouviers Law Dictionary) - This definition specifically uses American Christianity as a template to measure differing religious persuasions. It is loosely drawn on a lawfully measurable application of an otherwise equitably principled Luke 10:27, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself." This definitions usefulness for lawful purposes is limited to a purely Christian in scope society as, not all religious beliefs (religion) assume, attach, or include an extra-human experience. God is but one element, category, or tenant that may or may not be useful in revealing or identifying a religion. Non-Christian religions recognize the existence and teachings of Jesus but, not as a gods directive(s). Islam for example. Others, such as in James 2:19 ⋯ believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. Here, those that believe in the one God do not have any conscientious regard or pursuit of any duties to said God, do not follow after His teachings, code of ethics, philosophies, etc., etc., so, their religion expresses an individual and group totality, effectively and in toto, foreign to the extra human existence. Believing there to be a god, or even the possibility of a god, (agnostic for example) may, or may not be a determining factor in ones religion. Religion may be as individualistic as adopting a code of ethics in varying degrees from an avowed god then, mingling the philosophies of men with said subsequent scriptures. Webster's New World Dictionary -Fourth College Edition uses a slightly different vantage on Bouviers fellow men by stating:
    a) any specific system of belief and worship, often involving a code of ethics and a philosophy [the Christian religion, the Buddhist religion, etc.]
    b) any system of beliefs, practices, ethical values, etc. resembling, suggestive of, or likened to such a system [humanism as a religion] ⋯ any object of conscientious regard and pursuit
Though, Websters here definition covers religions that do not have formal services per se (humanism more narrowly / Buddhism more broadly), it still limits and/or only alludes to religious expressions that may flourish under differing specific systems or be the system(s) itself(s) - government (theocracy) for example. Religion is a system of beliefs (what should be, a must do, needs to act like, a perceived possibility, a moral imperative, etc.), that is put into practice [again humanism as a religion], would then as an ethical value implement Bouviers duty to fellow man (by example: It is immoral for a rich nation NOT to take care of its poor; government becomes the dictatorial church, spreading the wealth, implementing a dole, etc. enforcing a belief systems canonized dogma). Many definitions of religion use A religion instead of the broader all religions or just simply, religion. Religion is an ideologues beliefs, ethics, tenants, philosophies, values, or practices (individually or in concert), unthinkingly accepted as conventional - that which is other than empirical law (science, - gravity, fiscal law, etc.) or that which absolutely is, is religion. Socialism (communism, progressivism, fascism, etc.) the perceived ethics towards their fellow man, unthinkingly accepted as conventional is clearly by definition, an atheist's applied religious theocracy. The Christ said: Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. (Matt 5:44) which is an evil to the war mongering socialist (liberal - Mr. Obamunist Goodwrench the assassin by example, the neocon, etc.) and all else who use the name of Christ in their own self aggrandizing exploits. The occupying statist theocracy that infests this land completely and cheerfully inflicted its evil with an unparalleled opiate of religious conviction .

The religion of atheistic socialism in the 20th Century killed, maimed and destroyed more people and property than any other religion ever. Mr. Obamunist Goodwrench the assassin's religious conviction is advancing radical Islam's terrorism and heinous expansion..

    ... with politics a close second !
     -- Bobble, No. Ferrisburgh, VT
I'm with Archer on this one. Plain old fascism runs rampant ! In the name of who or what ever ! Religion, TWO TYPES of religious practice, ( Threskeia, superficial, of no worth,) ( Threskos, pure piety, care for you neighbor, without Oppression.) Luke 10:27 of no worth, it Cannot be done ! no one is capable. James, faith without works is dead ? Abraham believed God and it was counted unto him for Righteousness ! No mention of Paul and his writings of Liberty ! And FREEDOM FROM OPPRESSION. WHY would the denominational Christian religions, that there should be NO separation according as our Apostle Paul declares, hide such facts from their general congregations ? MONEY, power, control. Without forced compliance, by way of GUILT, with government, at the point of a weapon. Seems many, many a preacher have NO FAITH IN GOD, to supply their need ! No Trust In Freewill Offering ! Therefore they use the " Old Law " for leverage ! The most manipulated thing in the universe, by way of, a said Law. Whether God's mosaic law, or the current law of the land. There is a central theme of goodness, free the prisoners, loose the bands of tyranny, help rather than plunder. Liars, cheats and thieves, thrive upon USURY and PLUNDER. There is no justice ! Financial Liberty goes by the wayside first, then Freedom to move about ! Mercy Shown by our Agrarian based Founding Fathers, reaps Grace and Mercy. Man is rewarded for that that he sows ! Cause and effect. Who is forgiven all their trespasses, ? Colo 2:13 Who is redeemed from all iniquity ? Titus 2:14. Who are the peculiar people zealous of Good works ? We suffer reproach, willing to NOT OPPRESS OUR NEIGHBOR. Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts. Psalm 28:3. We hope for joy in the morning, because it is a damn dark night ! Many fear the wrath to come, but Very, very few are Saved from the wrath to come ! It WAS NEVER the Intention under Our Doctrines of/at Liberty to save the world ! Nonintervention was the rule of the day. Get the Picture ! I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Luke 17:34.
The Pharisee and the publican. For every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. God be merciful to me a sinner. ! Luke 18:13,14. The power of God these United States of America were founded upon, is the Rock which true believers trust in. Romans 1:16. All else claiming conditional liberty are full of s&^it. Law logic is as dry as dead mans bones. God Sets men at Liberty, it is man who lies, cheats, and steals away our God given rights of Liberty and Freedom. Righteousness comes by way of Faith. Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith ? Gala 3:3. We are Endowed ! Politicians like dogs chasing their own tail for the public entertainment ! Whether they know it or not !

If there is One Book to wrap your head around, it is the Book of Ephesians ! 2:8,9 states Very Plainly, For by Grace are you saved through Faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: NOT OF WORKS, lest ANY man should boast ! tell that to the do gooders, who lie in wait for profit ! Be good, be good and you might go to heaven is a lie of all that is evil in this world ! He is not in the bar, but in the pulpit !
