"Some [IRS agents] were vicious -- they’d brag back at the office, 'Boy did I make that guy jump.' Or 'I had that woman crying when I told her I'd put her on the street with her kids.' One agent who bragged about padlocking some guy's business said the man was so upset he asked, 'How do you expect me to pay now?' The agent said, 'I told him, Go get your wife to peddle [herself].'"

Not sure how to rate this simple statement of events; 5 stars for accuracy or a thumbs down for what the IRS has done to the once free sovereigns of this nation. I have many - many such incidences I could here report on. One particular case is where the IRS murdered a man in Alaska. The family members ask a FBI agent that was a close friend and went to their church to look into the murder. After a month or so, the agent came back and told them to leave it alone or they would not like the consequences.

Why is this shocking? Capitalism is the best system in the world if the playing field is level. Unfortunately those that are in control have abused the system to the point of collapse. Check out what Elizabeth Warren has to say: "...It is not free enterprise...It is a rigged game..." ; the Daily Show, April 27, 2011. The problem is the revenue agencies are picking on the wrong people. Let the IBMs', the Microsofts' and IKEAs' of the world go under the microscope. They get away with murder while the small businessman is, once again, expected to pay the bill.

You, the citizen of our once free country, are now called "inventory" by our friends at the IRS. Read "The Income Tax, The root of All Evil". It's long out of print but still available on Amazon.

The IRS has more information on you and power over you than any other police agency out there. And they are a Police Agency that works for the Federal Reserve as their collections arm. Let's not forget the Fed is privately owned...so the IRS is not a "Government" agency at all.

Ha! Ha! Ha! what a great quote. Remember all of those guys who testified before Congress in like 1987 about how bad the IRS was. Well many of them after their testimony continued to be pursued and were brought to tax justice or at least into compliance with the tax laws. The Federal Reserve is a bank and is owned by banks, yes for once Carlton is correct, private companies owning a private company makes the Fed a private company. The Fed is however the bank of choice of The US Treasury. I assume the US Gov could switch its accounts to Citi, or Bank of America if it desired to. Anyway The IRS is an agency of The Department of The Treasury. It is not an agency of the private bank called The Federal Reserve. Get the rest of your facts straight J. But congratulations on a start by calling The Fed a private bank, there may be a glimmer of hope for you yet.

A 22 year old quote from a book which is just relaying hear-say stories in an attempt to get people upset today about a governmental organization which handles its business in a completely reformed manner is just down right disingenuous on the part of the editor of this list. Liberty without intellectual honesty is no liberty at all, just another attempt to manipulate by underhanded methodologies.

Waffler you're still a statist: ergo idiot. No matter how you try and convolute truth you still have no clue as to the foundations or history of the tax system or its workings. I've done my research right back to the original "deal" between the Rothschilds (thieves) and the Government of England in the mid late 1700's...have you read beyond whatever public indoctrination you were programmed with? I doubt it.

Reston has got it right and has identified you J completely. Liberty has nothing to do with living in lies or in an intellectual desert such as yours.

I'd love to make those IRS agents jump or cry, whichever hurts them the most. I hope that by the time the shit really hits the fan, I am out of the country.

My wife has run small businesses for years and she is always getting into jams with the IRS. Wo only had one horrible experience when they cleaned out our bank accounts to pay back taxes that we weren't even aware of. For the most part the IRS agents have been very helpful and have bent over backwards to help her get out of her jams. Personally, I think it's best just to pay your taxes and if you have a complaint, attach a note to your check saying that you are paying the taxes under protest. It's the only chance you'll have to recover your money if the guvment decides to recind an unjust tax. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT! hahahahahaha

Waffler is a real life example of the mentality of the IRS -- he is a retired IRS employee.

I once worked with a man whose wife worked for the IRS. He said pretty much the same things as today's quotation. He gave numerous examples of their evil. The IRS is nothing but a bunch of evil b-tards who long ago gave up on their childhood dreams, and who live only to make others feel bad.
