"Let it [the Constitution] be taught in schools, seminaries and in colleges; let it be written in primers, in spelling books and in almanacs; let it be preached from the pulpit, proclaimed in legislative halls, enforced in courts of justice. In short, let it become the political religion of the nation."

With his unconstitutional legal tender acts, Lincoln made every war since his time possible, in fact, he made commun-ism possible in that his acts made it possible for our misleaders to take everything wehile paying for nothing. His contemporary, Horace Greeley said that Lincoln/s money system "was no less cruel than the old system of chatel slavery. For the trickery used to gain the people's acceptance of his legal tender, open: www.morpix.biz/x15 and scroll down to : Treatise On Monetary Reform by Merrill Jenkins.

The foundation of today's political religion is anything but the Constitution and the Republic which it formed. Today's political religion outlaws all Constitutional and otherwise competing belief systems. "There was a time when the American people roared like lions for liberty, now we bleat like sheep for security." (Norman Vincent Peal)

The Constitution just like the Bible are two words that are thrown around and hallowed and bragged on but are seldom opened, read and lived by. Mike is correct that "we roared like Lions". American fighting men still do, because unlike some of us they still believe.

And McCain says he “is confident he’ll take the Republican nomination and then the White House, where he’ll motivate Americans to serve a cause greater than self interest” I wonder what cause that would be? Globalism? A One World Government? That’s a very MARXIST thing for a Presidential hopeful to say, wouldn’t you think? Hey McCain, why don’t you motivate your own ass towards actually being an American? Enter Romney, when asked if he would need the approval of Congress to declare war he answers "I'll have to check with my Lawyers" ... What? Billary an obvious socialist... There is only one candidate talking about a return to the constitution. Lets hope his message is strong enough.

Too bad he didn't practice what he preached. Lincoln suspended the writ of habeas corpus and imprisoned those who dissented against his policies. Sounds an awful lot like the idiot who is presently in the White House. The Constitution is a scam on the people as it was conceived by oligarchs to protect the oligarchs. I was out of the country when those sneaky bastards, Monroe, Madison and the true bastard child of John Michael Levine and Rachel Faucett,a mulatto, Hamilton conjured up this piece of garbage to deceive the people. The Articles of Confederation should be restored as the supreme law of the land.

A number of states have perverted the primary process so that in those states the democrats can decide who will be representing both the dems and the republicans. The result is that we may have in this election two democrats (McCain and the dems nominee) running for President. This will be a disaster. McCain will be destroyed easily by the press and their candidate will be elected. Not that there is much difference between McCain and any other democrat but we have stood by and allowed the libs to steal our right to be heard in a presidential election. It should be the party that decides what the primary rules are and not the politicians in power in any one state. If the republicans had been the ones pulling this on the dems we would never had heard the end of it in the press. Then again the republicans would not have conceived of it because they lack the larceny of the left.

What absolute codswallop, under the conservative neocons we are the laughing stock of civilized nations (and uncivilized nations). In their tenure, they have created more havoc than a bull in a china shop. A political religion of the nation, WOW! what a concept. The Constitution was written by Liberals; perhaps this is the reason why so many of us don't live by its message -- please enlighten us with the Confederate manifesto. Right on Mike.

Wow, I dunno about all of that, but it would be nice for Article IV Secion 4 to be taught again in our public schools. It seems to have escaped the public mindset.

Lincoln had it tough -- he was being attacked from every quarter -- particularly from the banking establishments. The jury is still out on whether it is better to be beholden to a foreign private bank (like the Bank of England) or print up interest-free US Notes (instead of interest bearing T-Bills today). The European banking interests provoked the Civil War, with the Rothschilds financing both sides -- the South via the Bank of France and the North via the Bank of England. The American people didn't know what hit them, and the coutry has never been the same since. That is what happens when the Constitution is thrown aside to prop up a mandatory alliance of (formerly) sovereign states as opposed to a voluntary and unanimous association of free states.

The "Liberals" that wrote the constitution would be labeled as right wing radical nut jobs today. "Neocon" happens to commonly used instead of 'Jew" today and when I see or hear it it makes me a little offended. I may not be a Jew but I certainly hope that no one here is trying to denigrate anyone just because of his religion. I hope that the use of this codeword is accidental but it keeps showing up with regularity so I fear it may not be.

Warren is correct. And there are basically three types of conservatives. Most don't know the difference so they use "neo con" because they think it's "cool" and don't know any better. That said, I'm proud to be of Lincoln's ilk, Jeffersons, Adams, Washington and Franklin, and a few others as well. The Constitution has not been taught, it has been subverted and bastardized. Fortunately, many of us are aware and have had enough.

Well said Keith, Marysville, Oh - Our children are not being taught the very values this country was structured upon. These "labels" that the schools want to place on people need to be discarded and they all need to take a better look at what made this country so great. We are failing our future generations by continuing on this path. I certainly have seen enough just looking at my daughters textbooks. God help us all

i think he is trying to say that the constitution is not being enforced and that it should be the center of all goverment justices that are done by our goverment

Of what import is the Constitution to the ignoble?
