Last week, a new survey released by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that a record-high percentage of Americans — 61 percent — say they support marijuana legalization. As more states replace prohibition with legal business, communities around the country are seeing the benefits of regulating marijuana similar alcohol. Legal markets are stomping out drug dealers and tax revenues are going to public education and health. Most importantly, we are defeating stigmas and prohibitionist campaigns that seek to scare the public. Marijuana is less harmful than alcohol, it’s time to treat it that way. Check out Christopher Ingraham’s piece on this new study, Support for marijuana legalization has hit an all-time high “This is yet another demonstration of just how ready Americans are for the end of marijuana prohibition,” said Tom Angell of the Marijuana Majority, a marijuana reform group. “The growing level of support for legalization that we see in poll after poll is exactly why we’re now in a situation — for the first time in history — where every major presidential candidate in both parties has pledged to let states set their own marijuana laws without federal interference.” | ||||||||||||||||
