Last week, a new survey released by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research found that a record-high percentage of Americans — 61 percent — say they support marijuana legalization. As more states replace prohibition with legal business, communities around the country are seeing the benefits of regulating marijuana similar alcohol. Legal markets are stomping out drug dealers and tax revenues are going to public education and health. Most importantly, we are defeating stigmas and prohibitionist campaigns that seek to scare the public. Marijuana is less harmful than alcohol, it’s time to treat it that way.
